I'm moving from NYC to Israel next summer. Anyone know of an inexpensive way to ship my orchids? I don't want to get rid of them because replacing them could get pricey.

Have you looked into the import requirements of Israel? That may be the bigger question.

How many plants and typical size? Minis, large catts?

I knew someone who had people in Israel but his plants on eBay. He sent them usps. I don't recommend this.

Hi .Welcome to the Holy land !!!!!

In order to do this legally you will have to apply for an import licence to
the Israeli Min. of agriculture. This is a tiresome process and I am not sure you will get the permit at all. In order to apply , I think ,you must get the plants from a known grower in US who would then provide you with the necessary approvals (Phito and so on) to pass thru our customs inspectors. Plants may be quarantined for a long period (for which you must pay ) if , by any chance , anything like scale/aphids will be found on them.
You may also try and contact our Embassy and ask for an Agriculture Attache , if any, who might help you with the process.

IF x IF by any chance you will get tired by the legal procedures , you may contact me privately :D
