Hi! I'm new to the forum and in the learning process....although that appear to be an ongoing process I think. I am looking forward to learning more about Orchids and gaining insight from all the experienced Orchid addicts on the site. This is a great addiction, low in calories and legal...(smile) I have 11 plants now and I am happy to say they are all among the living...
    Greeting, Julie

    Welcome "aboard", Julie.

Most orchids are legal, but not all. Once you get completely deranged - I mean "fascinated" - by them, they can drive you to drink, so don't count out the calories just yet.

Thanks Ray! I hope to learn a lot from everyone. I just noticed a woman from Greece who just joined with 250 plants...oh my I am a baby orchid lover. If anyone has suggestions of good places to look for plants I would appreciate it, thanks!

There are lots of great places to buy plants depending on what you are after. I only grow species so I can't help with hybrid vendors.

Marni, from this forum, sells great plants on Ebay under the name mostlyspecies. Zach (ZWUM) imports and sells Bulbophyllums. Over the years I have bought many plants from Andy's Orchids http://www.andysorchids.com/default.asp and a few from Tropical Orchid Farm in Hawaii http://www.tropicalorchidfarm.com/. There are many others. Look at the "Orchid Vendors FYI" category on this forum for a bunch more.
