I think Ike is quite handsome...and so is Candace grandfather!
How old is he? Can he make a variety of vocalizations or is he
    the strong, silent type?

Damn if I know what that means! He can vocalize, but he doesn't
by choice? He's a talker...watch out? He never communicates with you? He only talks to his lady friends?

you said Ike is vocal during mating and i didn't know if you had a pair that you put together to get them to mate or if the turtle has a different 'friend with benefits' and you heard Ike then
i was gonna ask if you breed them to try to perpetuate the species or whatnot too....

I have one pair of sulcatas and they're housed together, mating at will. I used to artificially incubate 80-100 eggs a year but stopped when the economy took a dump and I wasn't able to sell all the hatchlings.

Juno is doing well. Probably 130# now, or more. Great personality for a tortoise. As is typical for late summer, she paces a lot. Ike, well.... he's a male; breeds her all summer and sleeps all winter. I believe Juno is past her peak reproductive years. That's fine with me. It kills me to destroy eggs.
