I waited too long to photograph this, so the flowers are a bit past their prime. The flowers are not quite 2" wide and have a nice fragrance. The plant is under 20" now, but may get a bit larger, still small for a Lycaste. I think it is properly now Sudamerilycaste ariasii, but I'm just not ready for that.

Marni, I just acquired this species, how do you grow it? it comes from a pretty high elevation but some growers list it as an intermediate species. My plant is pretty weak so I want to provide the most optimal environment.

Wonderful! It looks like something fragrant or am I wrong?

I haven't had this in a long time, but as I remember I grew it in my cool house (50-80F) in a terrestrial mix. I think it would be good in a fine bark mix as well.

I would recommend spraying the leaves with a good anti-transpirant such as VaporGard. That will keep it from loosing too much moisture from the leaves before the roots are growing. You may have to re-spray it after a month when it wears off. Keep it in a relatively small pot to start so it doesn't stay really wet. Good luck!

I don't remember a fragrance and ISOPE doesn't list it as fragrant.
