I'm going to right now though. It's supposed to hit -20f here tonight (that's -28 for you celsius minded folk). It was 60f yesterday (16C). It's about -15f right now.

My GH door was frozen closed earlier. I suppose that's good, because it means air isn't going to get in via the cracks. I should have added the extra triple-wall poly to the walls yesterday. It's just sitting in my kitchen. Should my 17,000BTU heater fail to keep up, I have a propane tank heater I can toss on. I just don't like the idea of the ethylene gas building up in the GH. I have lots of cool stuff in bud that I don't want to lose.

It's *way* too cold right now.

Well, I have some possible solutions for you!
    1) Move to California
    2) Plants could all come in the house, if need be, before you take step #1
3)Didn't you have many of these plants in the basement before you get the GH? See #2, then #1.

    4) Go skiing & F'it all!
    You can buy more, later.

    You're welcome :D

Bad here, too. Temperature outside's been hovering at 38.8°F for the last couple hours. On top of that, my Step Mom can't make it down from the Willamette Valley and... she was gonna bring me a fruitcake.:bang:

I hope you don't have any damage, Jon.

I can't imagine how you snow bunnies manage the heating bills and extra work to winterize the g.h. every year.

That is freakin' cold  Good luck Jon and hope everything fairs well for you!

You know....the older I get the less I can handle the winters here in PA. My wife and I have been talking about moving South and that time is coming soon ;)

One word, Tom. Bandon. Best kept weather secret in the country. And there aren't 4 bajillion people per square mile, either.

Argh, Jon, that is coooold. I saw on the morning news that Denver set a record for the coldest day since 1901. I think I heard them say -40F? Jeezus, that's insane. I hope your plants are ok.

Hang in there Jon. Hope the electricity doesn't go out. I can just picture you out there with an ice pick trying to get in through the greenhouse door so you can put the propane heater in the greenhouse.

Man, I hope you don't lose all of those buds. The temps you mentioned are reedikulus.
Be sure to bundle up good when you go to make that snow angel.

Even here in Costa Rica we are experiencing very low temperatures to the upper 40 F ... which for me here is a near freezer feeling. Anyway, from all predictions and indictions for the future weather, we should expect this to be the norm and adapt accordingly. I have noticed that the orchids have also departed from their flowering and growing schedules and it is a sort of crap-shoot now in the GH. Some orchids will definitely not survive and others will flourish.

Good luck Jon. That sounds just aweful. You might wanna try a solar pool cover over the top of your greenhouse. Mine kept stuff warm even when 3 twin wall panels were off the top and 5 were off the sides. Course it wasn't that cold here, or I'd move to the equator or somethin', but your twin wall is still up.

Well, we only hit -18 last night. With a breeze of ~5mph, the windchill was around -40. The Sensaphone never called me, which means it stayed above 50 down low near the sensor. That's good. Now it's time to go out there and try to open the door.

I need to get that stinkin' triple wall installed when it gets into the 30s again. I have the feeling this won't be the only cold front we get this winter. We're gonna hit 9 degrees today for a high. At least it's warming up a little bit.
