Huntleya wallisii/burtii (doesn't fit either species exactly) A large, bulbless, fan-shaped orchid I have been growing for at least two decades. When I started, there was no information about them anywhere. With no water storage organs, they must be kept moist at all times. I grow this one intermediate/warm, in medium light with constant air movement. It took me years to bloom this. I finally figured out at least a part of the problem was that I watered the whole plant including the leaves. On repotting a couple years ago, I noticed blasted buds down in the leaf axils. Apparently they do not like to get water in them. SInce then, with more careful watering it blooms every year or so with these marvelously bold, colorful nearly 5" flowers. I detect a light, sweet, bubblegum-y fragrance at midday.
