Brant, the squirrels could not making it around the baffle as it was, but the raccoon could. So this bling is to keep the raccoon off.

ROTFL@ Marni! What is it with small, furry animals that upsets some people so much?
We just feed 'em and they leave us alone and cause no damage. "news footage"...I
    love that!

Small furry animals can tear up on your ass, if cornered or threatened. And something tells me that Clark's back yard is just a tad more urban then your backwoods place in KY, Angela.
Don't get me wrong, backwoods is more my speed but...what can you do. Sometimes you just have to improvise the best you can with what you are given. Some day I hope to have a place in the middle of nowhere.

As long as there's a grocery and hardware store within 10 miles. :D

The nearest minimart from me is 3 miles away, so I don't consider my house to be in an urban area. I just don't think you should be feeding fury wildlife. Raccoons got into a friends attic and made a nest, only cost $15,000 to clean up and redo the attic. I don't want to encourage that kind of activity.

So, do you have wounded raccoons littering your yard yet, Clark?

No, no wounded raccoons here and I have some seed left in the feeder at the end of the week, although I did have to buy more today. At $13 for 10 pounds I feel like I might be winning.

I don't understand "ROTFL@ Marni!". It isn't the small, furry animal that bother me, it is what they do that pisses me off. It takes well over 2 weeks for the skunk smell to dissipate if they get into the crawl space under the house. It comes up through the floor. I am hoping that I can get rid of it before the company comes next week. I am about to invest in a skunk trap to go with the two racoon/opossum traps I already have. They are recent arrivals to the area (about 6 months ago), but not likely to go away on their own. When the opossums get into my studio behind the house, they will fight with my cat, shit all over the shelves and knock stuff on the floor. Have you ever had a opossum up on your benches in a greenhouse? I have. They are clumsy. You'd be matching unpotted orchids with loose tags on the floor.

Rats are small furry animals, but I don't like them either.

Marni, I just thought "Is there news footage?" was funny. I thought it was meant to be.

We live back in the woods so I feel we're living on the furry critters territory, although we tried to keep out foot print small when we built this house. We have feeders all over
the area and keep our furry critters fed and happy, hence, they don't bother anything.
We do have a raccoon who sleeps on a tractor seat in the garage, but he never destroys anything and gets along with the cats just fine.

Ann, I'm still waiting for the new footage, which was a tongue in check comment. You said, "What is it with small, furry animals that upsets some people so much?" and I answered your question.
