Hi I'm Elena from NZ. Just bought my first Dendrobium Orchid, but can't identify the specific sort, and might have already killed it. It came in a pot overly full with hard garden soil and an enormous amount of grass/weeds growing on it. I carefully freed the orchid roots from the soil and potted it in fresh matter. Now it developed little round grey/black mold spots on 2 leaves. Can anyone suggest what I should do please? Also, any help with maintenance would help since I can't find a good source on the internet since I don't know what kind exactly it is.. :) Thanks guys :)

The plant looks OK. Two leaves have some changes but if it doesn't continue on to other leaves it should be OK. If that orchid bark it is potted in, you've done the right thing. It can be very difficult to identify the species or hybrid name until it blooms. Best to let the mideum approach dryness and then water it thoroughly.

Here is a link to a culture sheet for Dendrobium.
