    Hello,
    I've been growing orchids for seven years. My environment is windowsill during the winter and outdoors during the warmer months (except for the my warm growers -Phal's and Paph's). I have a mixed collection which includes encyclia's, Cat's, Brassavola's, Eplc's, Blc's, Phal's and Paph's.

    I've run out of windowsills (that I'm allowed to use), so I am deciding whether to grow under lights in the basement.

    Welcome to OI. I've never grown plants under lights, but I have the feeling that if a greenhouse isn't possible, you'll be learning how to do it. There are a lot of really good growers here who do grow under lights and I'm sure they'll have some answers. In the meantime, if you haven't already looked there are lots of threads in the Growing Area that talk about this. http://www.orchidsforum.com/forums/growing-areas.4/
