Hello, I have three orchids all have which have flowered at least once except the one that now has buds on it. However as you can see, it has a dry bud and a few dry leaves all of the sudden. Does anyone know why this may have happened? And what can I do about it? It also has a new root starting that you can see too.

I look forward to your responses.

    Thanks!

Doesn't look unhealthy to me, what media is it growing in and what's your watering schedule?

They look pretty good! The yellowing and drying of the older leaves is normal, old leaves tend to die and dry out. You can just pull them off once they are dry enough.

As for the bud... I think it's normal too, at least it has happened to me. Sometimes the first bud doesn't manage to mature and it falls off, but the other ones should mature and open. In fact I have a phalaenopsis in bloom right now to which the first bud also felt and I was worried like you when I saw it. :D

Thanks for your response. I water them all once a week and let them in the sink with running water for about 5 minutes to soak the roots. It is growing in Miracle Gros Orchid potting mix.
