I received this plant as a gift, back in 1995, its largest cane then was the size of my little finger. It took ten years to achieve blooming size. It has bloomed several times since then. It is descended from a plant brought to Puerto Rico from Thailand in the middle of the twenty century. For many years the mother plant was the only Gramm. speciosum in the west of the island. The color of the flowers is different from the speciosum that are now commercially available.

That is a beauty. You have lots of patience to wait 10 years for a bloom.

The interesting thing is that this is the tiniest blooming speciosum I have seen, ever. The canes are between four and five feet. All my other, non blooming I have to add, speciosum have reached this size but have yet to bloom.
