Got an EEC today on Angraecoid Exhibit

So, can I share a bit of nerdy excitement? A friend and I decided to do an educational exhibit at the show in Kansas City, Mo. It was focused on angraecoids--particularly the long-spurred angraecoids that are pollinated by hawk moths. We used photographs the two of us have taken over the years of our plants, and we found (and got permission) to use a number of photographs of the hawk moths from an entomologist and database. (The moth photos are printed life size and pinned into shadow boxes like specimens.) This is the first time we have used this exhibit, and I guess we will have to retire it now as it got an EEC from the AOS today.

I am always thrilled to get something awarded, but especially something that educates the public about angraecoids. Yah'll know that I love them. Here is a picture I took before the judging.
