First blooming of a big Gongora species that I received without a tag. I believe I've narrowed it down to nigrita, rufescens, or pleichroma. If it helps, the inflorescence is about 2.5 feet long with a dozen well spaced blooms, and individual blooms are about 2.5" across. Any confirmation from the Gongora growers out there? Thank you!

So many of these look alike to me and I suspect there are a lot of mislabeled plants in the market.. It looks a lot like my G. histrionica which also looks a lot like many others. BTW, my histrionica was labeled as Gongora powellii (histrionica) when I purchased it. I don't remember what made me decide to go with the histrionica name. Here is a photo of my flowers and a 4 year old photo of the plant. It is HUGE now.

Perfect. Thanks, Kelly, I'm going to go with histrionica.
