I got this plant labelled G. formosanus, but I was told that formosanus doesn't have the spotting on the leaves that my plant has. One flower finally opened today, but the flowers are tiny. They could easily be covered by a dime, making pictures somewhat difficult with just my little point and shoot camera. Hopefully, the picture is good enough to get a possible ID.

I grow this one I-W in the terrarium, watered daily or every other day under two T5 lights. Here's a link to the previous thread for reference and a few more plant pictures: http://www.orchidsforum.com/threads/gastrochilus-sp.9987/#post-75508

I am a sucker for the vining gastrochilus. I don't know what it is, but for this type that is a good sized flower. Thanks for posting it. I did see another grower with something very similar that had been labeled G. fuscopuntatus (which I think we've already discussed).

Spot or not, I think it is formosanus. Nice clone!

Some plants of this species have round leaves too. Mine has no spots but the leaf shape is same as yours.

Thanks Marni and Tom! I checked the G. fuscopunctatus page on IOSPE, and the flowers look different to me. I don't really know much about this genus at all, though.

It came labelled as formosanus, so I think that's how it will stay unless I can find definitive evidence otherwise. Could high light cause the spotting similar to the purple hue in other plants? I keep this one probably 3" from the lights.

It might make the spots more noticeable, but it wouldn't cause them.

This is definitely not fuscopunctatus. Maybe that discussion was about another plant.

Zach, where did you get this plant? I'm interested in getting a few Gastrochilus.

I also do love Gastrochilus, this is the smallest one I know.

Some of my Gastrochilus bloom at a same time
