I finally bloomed it! I bought this as Bulbo. lepantananse in 2004 in an order from a Philippine vendor. The longest leaves are up to 6" long. I never found a reference for this species, and it wouldn't be the first misidentified plant in the order. Any ideas?

Looks like the same plant that Andy P sells as bulbo ramosii. Mine just finished blooming.

Jon, does your plant look like a Masdevallia? Jay lists B ramosii as a synonym Bulbophyllum flavescens which he says has 4" between growths. Mine has about 1/8 to 1/4" between growths.

The plant I have labeled as ramosii has 1/8 to 1/4 between growths and very much resembles a masdevallia vegetatively.

Marni, friend of mine ordered a Bulbo. ramosii with my order from TOF last year. It looked just like yours--3-4" tall compact plant with tons of thin spikes and the plant looked just like a Pleurothallis sp. The pbulb was so tiny that you could easily missidenify it...

PS, I just want to give you the info based on what I remember. I am not confirming the ID of your plant but it is a Bulbo. though.

Here are two pictures of my plant. It didn't bloom very well this year, so I didn't remake the photos.

It could also perhaps be bulbo semperflorens. I'd actually feel more comfortable calling it that than "ramosii".

The B. semperflorens looks much more open compared to mine. How different (if at all) is it from the B flavescens?

Petite Plaisance had a whole bunch of pots labeled B semperflorens (maybe 50 pots). For the couple of months I was working with the collection, I never saw a single flower!!! So much for the name.

I got semperflorens from PP a couple of years ago. It's only bloomed once for me.

The lip is shaped differently, and the leaves are longer on flavescens.

I second the congratulations on blooming it. I've got a Bulbo ramosii that I'm still waiting to bloom.

My B. flavecsens (ramosii) grows in a different way. Yours look more like a pale variety of Bulb. gibbosum.
