I have done a lot of research and found many different kinds of recipes with many kinds of ingredients. I would like to know what are the key nutrients/chemicals/ingredients needed to germinate orchid seed. I would like to try a homemade medium just for fun. Some ingredients I was intrigued by where: honey, potato(skin), agar, coconut water, rain water, distilled water, and actually using orchid fertilizer.

For the germination per se, seeds probably don't need much. But orchids don't need to have endosperms, so they require the basic 17 essential elements which all plants have to have: Plant nutrition - Wikipedia

Some additions are for the phytohormones, and others may be providing more organic materials (sugar, starch, peptides etc). Agar is considered to be just the supporting matrix.

Complete fertillizer (includes all elements including Ca and Mg) + agar is supposed to work for some orchids.
