Epigeneium (Dendrobium) fargesii

This is a beautiful species that doesn't get seen very often. The buds (and backs of the flowers) are striped in sort of a marbled pattern. The more usual form (red and white) plant outgrew its mount so I just attached the whole thing to a larger mount. It has bloomed consistently for me, this year is the best ever. 5 or 6 flowers open at the same time, there are still 2 buds to open. I also acquired another plant, from Hengduan Mountain Laboratories, Yunnan, China, a few years ago, this year bloomed for the first time, a different color form.. sort of mahogany brown with yellow stripes, still looking like marble.(Last 2 photos) I grow this outside, coastal southern California. Rather shady. It gets winter lows to about 40 deg F (4 deg C) or occasionally a bit lower, summer highs usually 85-90 deg F (29-32 deg C) or occaionally a bit higher. Summer nights typically around 68-70 deg F (20-21 deg C)
