The flower is about 3/4" wide. The plant is about 8" tall (sorry, I didn't take a plant shot) and is a very slow grower. From the literature, I would say it grows cool with a dry rest in the winter. From personal experience, it does better at the low end of intermediate with out a severe dry rest.

Stunning. Looks like it could make for some nice compact hybrids.

I have one hybrid that a friend made many years ago: E marmoratum x Sophrolaelia Psyche. It is a nice thing, but slow growing as is the parent.

    I've never noted a fragrance.

Marni - it is stunning plant, I know in EU is one flowering plant in some old German collection. I really love it! I had small seedling, but it didn’t grow at all when after two years of nothing I got my first new growth overwatered and rotten, and few more months later that was it... It was written somewhere that it needs huge day/night temperature differences like 11-16°C ... Still dream to have it! Congratulation.

Piotr, there isn't much information that I've found about this species. I know of a couple of plants in California. I have seedlings of it that are growing well (and I've resowed the seed). They aren't fast, but they are growing nicely. I will have enough to try some different conditions of temperature and potting mix. See if they can handle the "Mexican winter" treatment in my cold house. Baker's culture sheet indicates that they should. I tried a division mounted but it bit the dust.

Pretty awesome plant! I'll have to bring it in during our hot summers!
