One of those "common as dirt" plants but I like it. Grows fast and blooms profusely. Mounted, intermediate, dappled bright light.

I like it! Do you have a picture of the whole plant? It looks like a giant specimen.

It isn't "giant" but it has certainly out-grown its mount. It is on a long branched manzanita stick hung at a diagonal. Sharing the lower portion of the mount is Mediocalcar decoratum that has mostly finished blooming. Do you have one? It would probably do well in your conditions.

Woah! Both of those are beautifully grown plants. I love the little candy corn flowers on the Mediocalcar too!

I don't grow it. I've almost bought it a few times but never got around to getting one.

Is Dinema polybulbon not a synonym of this? I got one at our society Xmas party back in Dec. It is mounted in Orchiata rolled in plastic square netting. I hung it in a window and seems to be doing ok.

This is the same thing as Dinema polybulbon. The Epidendrum/Encyclia groups that are morphologically dissimilar have been separated into their own genera by some people.

Piotr, yes, they do last a long time and are fragrant. To me they smell like baby powder. I have this plant and my Bulbophyllum ambrosia (also in bloom now) close to each other and the combination is heavenly.

Well...mine's not doing so good. I have it outside with all the other orchids where it's been warm and rainy here. Gets plenty of water but half of it has died off. Do you feed it a lot Kelly?

newbud, I used to fertilize weakly, weekly but for the past year+ I have been using a Dosatron so I fertilize with every watering. The plant has done well for me with both methods. What are your outside conditions ... humidity, light, wind? Mounted or potted?

It came mounted in a round square mesh tube filled with orchiata. It's in bright shade all day long and I keep it moist (misting regularly) and whatever the humidity and wind we get here in the North Georgia mountains. Lately it has rained everyday. I was beginning to think I live in a rain forest. All my orchids seems to like these conditions. Thanks
