Enc. cyanocolumna--A miniature Encyclia species. The flower is 0.5"+
That is very nice!
And, what is your new avatar?
Gotta love that lip. Nice Tom.
My Den. schrautii
What a great mini!
Tom, I've just been hunting in the gh and find that I still have a (neglected) piece of this. Can you tell me what culture you give it and perhaps what it is growing near to give me a sense of the conditions?
I like this one a lot...nice job, Tom!
Thank you all!
Marni, I grow it on the cool side of int. condition. My plant is on stick mount and it gets water when it is slightly dry(every other day in my condition). The light level is about 2000-2200FC(bright but not as bright as the one for most Cattleya). I have Den. microbulbon and Zygostates alleniana growing side by side with this Enc. I think good humid air movement and slightly dry out between waterings are important for this species.
Mine is a couple days behind Toms. I have mine outdoor in San Diego, so it definitely takes < 40F. I grow it with Encyclia mariae.
Thank you, both. I noticed that I haven't remounted mine since 2002 (now that is embarrassing), so it probably never dries out. Good to know that it can grow cooler.
