Dresslerella caesariata culture

    Does anyone grow this species? If so, can you provide suggestions for its culture. Should I mount mine? Upright or pendant? Thanks.

    Mine is mounted, pendant, intermediate. I've had it about 1 year and it is doing very well.

    I bought one from Ecuagenera in February. It came mounted on a porous pipe, covered with coconut choir. The roots were covered with a wad of sphagnum moss. I grow it in int. temps., low/med light, and hum. levels are between 70 and 90%. It is doing very well. I use rain (melted snow) water, and only fert. at half strength every other week. Hope this helps.

    It gets approx 150-200 ppm fertilizer in RO water at every watering. In the winter it probably gets watered every other day. Spring through fall usually every day. Almost no moss at the roots so that it is dry by the next day. The light is a bit brighter than average for masdevallia/pleurothallid, but not much brighter. Mine are growing with 56F (13C) minimum nights and about 80F (27C), but I just looked up the elevation and it should do well in cooler temperatures as well and I may move one to a cooler spot.

    Do you have a picture of this pipe? Sounds like a new material for them.

    Thanks both of you for the info. Marni, I think I will move mine a little closer to the lights and see if I can get it going. It has done nothing at all (good or bad) for nearly a year now...
