This one has the peculiar habit of a malformed lip on the first bloom from every spike. However, subsequent flowers have a normal lip. It's not as big or flat as most vampira, but it has nice color. lepanthes 2 011.JPG Lepanthes elegantula 036.JPG Dracula bellerophon 022.JPG

Are the flower really so dark? Wow!
Does it have an fragrance? I have read that some Draculas smell like mushrooms?

Yes, they are! Recently it has started to bloom with much less striping and is getting close to solid black. 18 spikes currently with 2 just opening, I'll post pics when they're fully open.

I haven't smelled them. I do know that they produce alcohol on the lip to attract their specific pollinators, which are fruit flies (vinegar flies).

    Thank you.
    18 spikes! That's impressive, indeed!
It's beautiful. I've never tried to grow draculas, because I assumed their growing conditions are the same as for masdevallias and masdies were never happy with me.
