Yet another very common species that I really enjoy. Easy to grow and bloom. I am growing it in a basket with coir. This is my only Dendrochilum after I got rid of D. bicalosum which I found very unsatisfying (boring) wenzelii group-1000.jpg wenzelii inflorescence-1000.jpg wenzelii close-1000.jpg .

    Lovely species indeed!

All these years, I only had one fantastic blooming from mine. Last year, it had no bloom at all and this year it had two spikes. I have no idea why my plant does that? Any clue, Kelly?

No. Wish I could help. Mine is low in the gh so it gets periods of very bright light but also periods of deep shade. The coir is fresh and loosely packed so there is a lot of air to the roots. It is also directly below my ceiling fan so it gets strong air flow. I don't know if any of those factors are vital but it seems to be doing ok for me. Here is a plant shot so you can see the basket and medium. As you can see, it is a young plant. I believe that is a 4" basket. wenzelii plant-1000.jpg

Thanks for the reply. What has really frustrated me with my plant is that it only blooms nicely when it wants to...I am keeping the same culture and the plant has filled the 6" wooden basket...

Bob, I just now saw your question. Sorry.
At the time of my post I was misusing the name coir. It is indeed coconut fiber.
