This plant is about 2.5" tall and the ends of the leaves are always rounded, so it is very distinctive. It is from the Philippines.

This is a continuation of a conversation that started on my previous Dendrochilum species thread.

I have seen this one before...let me see if I can come up with the name for you. I believe I have a division of it in the greenhouse

Marni, this one looks like the Dendrochilum pulcherrium to me. It is also listed on the book " The Orchids of the Philippines". They have a picture of this species and a picture of D. parvulum side by side as well as the descriptions of both species.
Just want to pass the info. and hopefully you can find the correct ID for your Dendrochilum.

I think I have some D pulcherrimum in bloom and can take a picture. I'll check tomorrow. In the description of D pulcherrimum Jim Cootes says that it is heteranthus, which this one isn't. With D pulcherrimum it appears that the inflorescence is coming out from the base of the bulb and no bulb develops from this. If you look at this one, you can see the old spikes that arose from the apex of the pseudobulb that did mature.

    You are right, Marni.
I went back and checked again. Yup, both Jay's site and Cootes mention D. pulcherrimum has heteranthous inflorescence. So the picture on Jay's is not D. pulcherrimum, right?

Also, I saw the yellow D. parvulum on Jay's(assuming it is D. parvulum at this point), then I saw the white D. parvulum too, which it looks identical to your other Dendrochilum species. Does D. parvulum have two color forms? Cootes only mentions the white one.:confused::confused: Now I understand why you would like to see the plant image of the yellow D. parvulum(on Jay's site)

2.5" you say.....that is definitely a Dendrochilum species for me!
