Dendrobium vexillarius 2 clones

I have a mixed track record with this species. They do well for awhile and then they go downhill. These are making yet another comeback, but even when the plants aren't at their best, the flowers are fabulous.

Alexis, I think you would have a hard time with this one. Have you grown D. prasinum or D pentapterum? They aren't orange, but they are related and much less demanding. I don't do well with D prasinum because it needs more heat. As a matter of fact, I've decided to try crossing vexillarius with pentapterum to see if I can get an easier plant with a bit of orange. I've also made an outcross with these two. I've never gotten seed, but Dale has in the past so I know it is possible, so wish me luck.

Linda, Even if Mikael doesn't post here, I'm glad he takes a peek now and again. I hear he has great plants too.

Eliana, I've been told that these are var. microblepherum. There are other color forms and each one seems to have its own name. Kind of reminds me of Laelia purpurata. I've been wondering if I cross two varieties, is it still "pure"? Is it a faux hybrid? I have var albiviride (green and white) also in bloom.
