Dendrobium senile (UPDATE 4/2) So I got this plant at the WOC in Miami last year. It was mounted on a green plastic screen and when we went back to the hotel room I saw that it was actually 2 plants. One I kept and the other I sent with my wife to give to her mother. The one I kept was 4 growths with one flower. It put out 4 new canes in the spring, 4 towards the end of summer and there are 4 growing now, each about to mature and already have a new growth popping out so needless to say, it grows pretty easy. From what I read, people have a hard time trying to flower them and say that they have to almost burn them while they are dormant to bloom but only give them moderate light in the summer while they are growing. I thought it over in my mind and came to the conclusion that the plants that don't bloom well probably don't get enough light, and therefore not enough food while they are actively growing so I decided to give mine fairly bright light, ie direct sun in the morning till about 1pm, and look what happened...I have 9 flowers from 8 mature growths, I'd say it worked out pretty well. Here is the first of the 9, I'll try to get another picture when they are all open, I just hope they all go at the same time!
