Compared with my other secundum plants this has been a slow and poor grower. It loses new growths for no apparent reason and the canes lose their leaves at the drop of a hat. It is not due to cultural issues, it is side by side with a normal colored clone that grows like gangbusters and flowers well.

H.G. Reichenbach described the first white form as Den. secundum var. niveum in 1882. That name predates Sander's Den. secundum var. album of 1901.

I've found the niveum form to be not so robust as the typical form. It likes to be kept dry during the rest period.
