This is a cross between Dendrobium (Big Alex x spectabile). I purchased it several years ago as a seedling and now it's, well, decently large thanks to Den. spectabile. The past few years it has put out a single, small flower spike, so this display was really a fantastic gift. The flowers also never had any fragrance until this year, in which they are fairly fragrant. To me, they smell like a sweet, floral chocolate. This specific plant has a lot of sentimental value to me. When I was in high school, I actually took the first flowers from this plant and had a florist incorporate them into a corsage for my girlfriend at our first prom. We're still together and the plant's flower displays are only growing more and more lovely, so all is well in those regards.
