I tried to cultivate this plant, it quickly left my garden for the great, happy, terracota pot in the sky. Other friends had similar experiences. I concluded it was intolerant of the hot weather of the coastal areas of PR. And then a friend blooms one, smack in the middle of the huge heat island of the Island capital. I was gobsmacked. Maybe this plant comes from a warmer location than previous importations. dendela.jpg

The fringe on this one's lip makes me think of a leather jacket I had in the 70's....

I prefer to forget the clothes I used in the eighties. I still wonder how I managed not to kill myself while dancing in six inch tall platform shoes.

Forget the cloths of the late 50's and early 60's. Thanks for the post of a beautiful orchid.

This looks more like Dendrobium venustum. The fringe on the lip is extended, whereas in delacourii the fringe is more like a closed hand.

The flowers of delacourii, simondii and venustum are quite similar. However in this case the plant is barely four inch tall, venustum plants are usually 12 to 18 inch tall.
