I divided my big beautiful D. anceps and in the process have 4 or 5 loose canes with no roots. I am going to try rooting these in moist sphagnum but wanted to see if anyone out there has tried this with this species. If you have any suggestions they would be appreciated.

My plan is to put the cane base plus 3-5 leaves into the sphagnum. Thoughts? I have never had a keiki or roots originate from the cane on this plant so I suspect this effort will fail but am going to try anyway.

Kelly, I have had success laying the canes flat in moist sphagnum, nestled about 50% deep.

Thank you, Ray. Do you recall if the roots came from the base or from the leaf nodes?
