Ok, I'm dyin' here! I have a beautiful member of this species, vegetatively speaking; but I have never bloomed it in the 2+ years I've had it. And NOW, 2 days before I'm leaving town for 2 weeks, I notice multiple buds on 5 growths. YAY! But CRAP, I'm going to miss the flowering.

Anybody know how long it takes from bud set to open flowers? How long do the flowers last? I really want to see this one.

    TIA!

If just for two weeks, you will probably still see the flowers when you return and it might be at the best show time. Good luck.

Congrats, Alexis! Your plant probably will send out another group or two of flowers for the season after this blooming. The flowers on mine lasted about 10 days.

"so, are you saying we have 2 weeks to raid your place???" No, Ron, that is NOT what I'm saying. Unless you can get past the big dude we have housesitting! :p

The buds are still pretty small, probably about 2.5cm long. With what everyone is saying, I'm thinking I may be able to see the blooms - or another flush of them - when I return. That's good news.

MJ, we're heading to OHIO (Columbus), to visit the folks for xmas. We'll be there for a few days, and then we meander our way back south. We don't have an itinerary, we just see what we can find to explore. It's an annual trek!

If I had my way, we'd make our way east thru PA (Parkside) then head in a northerly direction to CT (J &L). And THEN head South. I suspect I'd be left by the side of the road if I suggest that, though...

So no, I don't think I'll be visiting any orchid nurseries, unless we stumble on them. Anybody have any suggestions on where to stumble between Ohio and Florida? :D

We usually take a direct route North, via 75. When we head back South, we're all over the map!

I wonder if there is still a place on Signal Mt, TN?? You should shout at Ed M and see if he can help out. He lives right off 75.

    OMG! Stop and see Ed!
Pick up a little something for me, while you're out it. A nice Phal species will suffice.

Seriously, you should contact Ed and stop in to see him. He has beer, too.
