    OK, I just purchased a Bepi. 'Golden Peacock' and searching info on the hybrid most of what I find says Blp. 'Golden Peacock'. Are these synonyms? Some of these hybrid acronyms drive me crazy! Also, while we're at it. Several times on the forum I have seen people using PNG and RHS. Does anyone have any idea what these mean? Maybe we should create an 'Acronym glossary" for all of us newbies....

    PNG = Papua New Guinea
    RHS = Royal Horticultural Society
    POE = Pacific Orchid Exposition (in San Francisco)
    I know there are lots but I can't think of any more right now.

    Somewhere there is a list of abbreviations for natural and cross genera. If I find it I will post a link here.

    You pronounce acronyms as a word but if you pronounce each letter, they are initialisms. The Bepi. is an abbreviation.

    Unfortunately these genera are invented Brassavola x Epidendrum = Bepi

    As taxonomy evolves, the species that comprise a hybrid are changed into more fitting genus. Doing so creates a different nothogenera. Often working backwards from the old nothogenera and figuring out parents, then inputting them into the RHS hybrid registry will give you an accurate updated name.

    I can't keep up with the hybrids!
