Constantia rupestris

    It is an event in my collection when I bloom a Constantia rupestris. This is the 2nd time this year I have bloomed a seedling from a selfing I did some years back. I'm not sure if I am missing something in the culture or the selfing is just reluctant to bloom. Here is the blooming from yesterday.

    P.S. If anyone knows the trick to blooming this, please let me know.

    I think the whole genus consists of shy bloomers.
    Fantastic and special when they do though!

    Whoo hoo! I just found a bud on a Constantia cipoensis.

    Sounds like a primary hybrid will be attempted :)

    I've thought about it. I'm hesitant to make crosses that may get confused for species once out in the world. As I think about it, it could give a plant that was easier to grow and bloom more often.

    I believe shy bloomers make up the majority of the genus.
    Wonderful and unique when they do, though!
