Honestly it is your best choice. The only thing Macs really outshined Windows with was with is graphics programs used in graphic arts, but even in that area Windows machines have caught up with. Macs are not worth the extra money you need to spend on them becasue they are no better than Windows :ducks from objects being thrown by the Mac fans out there:

Jesus, abaxter. A printer? Damn. I can still remember when a 'dot' was called a 'period'. Of course, 'period' is two syllables, though. Gd frbd we shld loose languge skillz.

We already have a printer. He's taking business courses...will that involve an English class? Then he goes on to the trades...he's been accepted in a masonry course so far.

My daughter goes to Wake Forest U, (one more semester - YAY!!!), and they provide laptops to incoming freshmen and replace them when beginning their junior year.

    Yep, essential.

In American universities, all students are required to take Eng. Comp. 101-102...well,
except maybe engineering majors. Canadian universities might be quite different.
Seems to me that it's an advantage all through life to be able to write clearly and
correctly. However, I'm an ole English prof.!

And then there's MY classroom, where I make the students turn off and put away all electronic devices; it's hard enough to keep the attention of 40-100 eighteen year olds without competing with Facebook, and I've read enough about how information gets encoded and remembered to be convinced that typing does not help people process information as well as writing longhand. Makes me really popular with the kids, I'm sure! But I teach philosophy, and no one can convince me that computers are necessary to a discipline that relies mostly on methods from 2500 years ago.

LOl Eliana! Ben is 20 so hopefully he is over that silly 'gotta be on Facebook' stage. His Dad and I will kick his butt if he isn't. He really is serious about college and pretty mature so with any luck he'll be all business. Besides, he needs to learn a trade so that he can build my greenhouse and tile my kitchen floor. :D
