Coelogyne kaliana updated

    This is from Peninsula Maylasia. I got it in 2008 and this is the 2nd blooming for me. I posted this last September and this new blooming surprised me since it is much better. I also managed to photograph it while the flowers were still fresh. The flowers are about 3.25" wide and fragrant. Though I wouldn't call the "fragrance" a big selling feature as it is a bit off.

    That is a stunning display. Congratulations.

    I spy a seed capsule, too. Is that an outcross or selfing? Those flowers must last a long time for the capsule to be that big.

    Kelly, it is the last capsule of a selfing I did the last time it bloomed. I also tried an outcross at that time, but none of them took. I've harvest some of the capsules from the selfing and do have some germination.

    My first thought was that it was from last year but it looked like it was on a current spike.

    It was pollinated last September 3, so yes, a full year. That is pretty standard for coelogyne.
