Great color and great fragrance, so-so form. I still think I'll keep it. Currently sporting 4 flowers on 3 growths. All of the blooming growths have a leaf, but all previous bloom growths have been leafless. I'm not sure what caused the change...

Alexis, help. My walkeriana is mounted also but I commonly loose growths to rot. I find it hard to think that I'm over watering it but any thing is possible. What are your conditions and how often do you water? I keep mine with my Vandas so it is very bright and intermediate temps.

Kelly, I grow in an open shadehouse in south Florida. This time of year, my plants are getting daytime highs of 90°F, and nighttime lows of 70°F. I'm only watering every other day right now. In the summer (when it gets hot :)) I will water daily. Over the winter when it's cooler, I only water it once, maaaaybe twice a week. I have strong air movement at all times.

Walkeriana likes to be hot, I wonder if maybe you're watering too often for your cooler conditions. The light you're giving it sounds right, so it sounds to be a water issue. How's your airflow?

I have it hanging high in the greenhouse so it may be in stagnant air. My winter lows are cooler than yours but summers are probably similar. I'll change its location so it gets more air movement and water it less next winter. Thanks for the help.

My winter temps get down occasionally into the 30s, and walkeriana does fine. My summer temps are rarely over 80 either. It actually doesn't need that much sun in the summer.

Mine are potted and get watered like 4 times a week in summer and 2 times a week in winter. They are in a very very open mix. Because the new growths are cone-ish, be careful about getting pooled water.

It is my opinion that most people grow walkeriana way too bright in the summer. Mine is around 2000FCs or so during the summer, and 3500 ish during the winter. Make sure you fert appropriately and have a fast fast fast draning mixture.
