Cattleya violacea in situ

    On the Rio Negro still; this is the showiest species , visible from afar.
    Not that uncommon , we spotted many plants , all growing in good light
    but not in full sun like the Schomburgkias. IMG_3075 (683x1024).jpg

    There are many Rio Negro's around the world. You mention the Shroms. Maybe Guatemala?

    It seems like the Rio Negro where Cattleya violacea occurs is in northern Brazil

    Sorry I didnt make it clear - I am referring to the Rio Negro in the Anazon basin, Brazil.
