Cattleya lueddemanniana

    Acquired earlier this year from Brazil. Still, a bit of a strange time to flower. Four flowers on a stem - and yes, it is definitely lueddemanniana!

    Beautiful flowers! You mention that it's a strange time to flower. A number of my winter-blooming cattleya species (Guaianthe aurantiaca, C jenmannii) and hybrids are blooming right now - strange indeed, especially since they just finished blooming less than 6 months ago! What's going on?

    Hi Dave.

    You write "Acquired ... from Brazil."
    This could give the impression, that C. lueddemanniana is native to Brazil.
    It is not - C. lueddemanniana is endemic to Venezuela.

    Please do not mind ...

    I would think that the change in hemispheres could account for the untimely blooming, but not for that of Ellen's.
