Last year I bought four repiculous Cattleya's, just to try them again. I love these little gems but I couldn't keep them alive some 20 years ago. This one is labelled Cattleya kettieana. Looking at the colors, it appears to be two plants in on small pot.

It is in an old terrarium on a steel grate on a Seedling Heat Mat. So the temperature is around 19 - 25C (night-day, winter 4 degrees lower, summer 4 degrees higher). There is also a Sansi growing lamp above it (outside the terrarium) and a fan for some air movement.

I water every two to three days. In the winter a lot less. Medium is pure bark in a rather small size. So no sphagnum or other water retaining material. They seem to like it, so far...

The two in the back are still in lava in clay pots. I just received them yesterday. Not sure if I leave them that way.

Where did you get them? I've been looking for some rupiculous Cattleyas/Laelias/Sophronitis for a while.

I live in Europe and they are actually quite easy to find over here.

Check out Andy's Orchids... if you don't see what you want on the website, send an email and inquire. The website has only a small fraction of species that he has available.

Floralia from Brazil brings in orders several times a year and has an extensive listing.
