First bloom for this one. It had a rough summer; was an eBay purchase and arrived with almost no roots intact. I nursed it along, and it gave me two 4-1/2" blooms. Definitely not complaining! ;)

    Very nice species.

This species is "famous" for blooming even when the plant is in poor condition. Of all the labiate Cattleyas this is by far the toughest for me to grow well - I have no idea why. Anyone else have this experience or have recommendations?

You need to grow it hot, and actually not quite as bright as other cattleyas.

Mine thrives in my GH which is lowland temps.

Cut them off and let it put the energy into making roots.

I had actually considered that, but the roots are looking okay now, so I think I'll let it bloom out.

I didn't have any success with this one until I mounted it on cork with a very tiny bit
of sphag. and hung it on a rack. It's doing beautifully now.
