Maybe it would be easier for folks if you posted what you're looking for? If it's a ginormaous list, just list the top 5-10?
Just a suggestion, not a rule or demand.

It's too bad I can't send plants to PR. I have much of what you need.
Have you asked Irma and Ricardo? They have bulbos, too.

Mary Jane, I don't understand why you couldn't send plants to PR. USPS worked for me.

From what I understand, it is not legal for us to send there. Without paperwork that is.

Yes but to the best of my knowledge. That mostly applies to vendors. Plus they usually don't say anything unless it's foreign merchandise and the law as it applies to us (PR) treats us the same as if you were sending a plant NY to NJ. The only exception to that is Arizona and Hawaii which have particular laws.

well, in my book, illegal is illegal. Vendor or no.

Sure you can sneak it in the mail, but you run the risk of getting slapped around a bit.

That is my point Forrest. I don't mean sneaking. When I take a box to the post office and they ask me whats in it, I will state "live Orchids" and the boxes will state live plants keep from heat or cold, etc. and Never have I been questioned on the fact that I have no paper work and Never have I lied about what I was sending.

Can someone clarify if PR requires paperwork? I had thought it was o.k. to ship plants there. I also thought it was only HI and AZ that needed special docs.

I will be calling someone on Monday just to make sure, but last I had asked the Dept of Agriculture told me as long as it was within the US with the exception of AZ and HI there was no problem unless I was a nursery thennnnn, the rules are different and certain paper work would be required.

But like I said I will be calling on Monday to see what they tell me just to be on the safe side.

The old OSF contained a thread about Troy Meyers contacting the person in charge of PR agriculture who stated that plants imported to PR require a phyto certificate. It seems that eveytime someone points you toward that commentary, Neyra, you ignore or dispute it. IT IS ILLEGAL TO SEND PLANTS FROM THE US TO PR WITHOUT PHYTOSANITARY CERTIFICATES. Period.

Like I said before Monday I will get to the bottom of it and if I am wrong I will state so. It is not wrong to fight for what you think is right.

Don't go there Jon.:poke: It's just that you can also be as stubborn as a mule.:horse: The bottom line is not whether I am right or not, but having the correct info. I know how to accept that when I am wrong, but I will dispute something if I think I am right.

Well, my advice to anyone in the US would be to listen to the head of the PR agriculture department and not Neyra; don't ship to PR unless you have a phyto certificate. Troy has had conversations with the department, and he is convinced it's illegal to send plants or plant material to PR without a phyto certificate.

I just checked google for "shipping plants to Puerto Rico" and Exotic Orchids of Maui website came up on the first page. I know them and respect there business sense. They mention orders under 11 plants as having no delays. It could be that if it is a small number, no delay for paperwork, it is worth checking with the authorities.

That is what is said on post 14, that I would call the authorities on monday to verify the information.

Neyra, could you ask them to give you something in writing? I would want something tangible, rather than someone's opinion on the phone.
