Does anyone grow this species. I have seen it as a synonym for Bulbophyllum occultum but cannot find any information about it. B occultum is a very interesting plant and I'm wondering if they are the same.

    Harry,
I can't find this species in my books. Closes thing is vaginatum. Do you have a photo of it in bloom?

Bulbophyllum oculatum and bulbo variegatum are not synonymous according to Kew. Variegatum is from Madagascar, and oculatum is from Malaysia though it isn't an accepted species name.

    B. occultum (not oculatum) is from Madagascar. So many names it gets confusing!
There is a species from Mad. called B. variegatum, but it is not a syn. of occultum.
I think I have a plant of occultum, but it has never flowered, so I'm not positive. I've never seen variegatum available.

Alvim Seidel has a plant listed for sale as B variegatum and is the reason I ask. I have no picture of it nor can I seem to locate one. This site has occulatum Thouars listed as a synonym for variegatum Thouars. I said it wrong in my earlier post.
