    Hello experienced growers.

My plant of Bulbophyllum echinolabium, though very strong,
worries me - because it flowers and flowers and flowers ...
It has produced some 30 flowers, each one 12 inches high,
one single flower after another, for almost 1 year.
And now the plant is developing another flower stalk,
    a second flower stalk !!

    This sounds good, right ...
But I once had a big and beautiful plant of Phalaenopsis bellina
which did the same - and then, at one point, I could do nothing
to stop it wasting away ...

    I am inviting helpful comments.

Get any new growths over the course of that year?

Before I got rid of mine it was doing the same thing. Some of the spikes would flower for 18 months or more. I think what you are describing is common for this species when given the appropriate culture. As long as the plant is also putting on new growths and has good roots I think it will be fine.

Mine finally grew so large I divided it into several pieces and gave it away, keeping only a small division.
