Bulbophyllum cochleatum var. bequaertii. is quite distinct from the three other varieties of this species. A long rhachis and wide open flowers with a long dark narrow lip that can be entirely glabrous or papillose, or the margins of the lip can be ciliate, or the top part of the lip can be moderately thin to rather thick. Such are the difficulties of the botanist when separating the varieties of this species.

Inflorescence: up to 21” long, with up to 84 flowers. Dorsal and lateral sepals up to ¼” long.
