My Brassanthe Maikai "Louise" has just finished flower - and I've been too busy ( = lazy) to take it a decent photo while it was in full bloom.
The flowers are about 6-7cm wide and they have an amazing fragrance, citrusy-floral, stronger before noon.
I have this plant since 2012 from Floralia, Bresil (www.floraliavirtual.com.br/).
I almost lost it in 2017, during my long vacation, but now it is finally recovering nicely.
Under my growing conditions, the miracle substrate for this plant seems to be pure pumice.
    Thanks' for watching.

This is a hybrid made by odom's orchids in Fort Pierce, Fl. About 20 miles north of me. John and Louise Odom's are members in our group and they are very supportive. Louise told me Maikai 'Louise' has a genetic flaw. But widely accepted. The dots are on the outside of the pedals. All the rest of the other Maikai's the dots are reversed. She told me that the dots must be on the outside or it is not a Louise. It was the second breeding attempt. The first had distorted flowers. Odoms is on the web. Fun to walk through the green house. Money flies out of my pockets. I avoid going there unless I have lots of extra money for an orchid or 2.

Thank you, Harvey. This is very interesting. I love "backstage" stories.
I didn't know that this "outside dots" are actually a flaw. :) To me, they are a "feature" - :) I don't think this is the proper word. What I want to say is that I like them where they are.
:) I am very grateful to John and Louise Odom's for this lovely clone.

"Feature" is a perfectly good word in the instance. And it is a charming hybrid.
