and trust me, Andy is not sorry to lose a customer like you("shut-the-door", is it how to pronounce your forum name also? Take that as advice.)

Sometimes I wish I were an orchid vendor with big greenhouses and lots of plants. Sometimes I don't. Not sure if I can deal with this kind of stuff on a daily basis...

Thanks, Ray. I have considered that, but it seems a bit more extreme for this. Besides, contesting charges can be a hassle. My cc number has been swiped three times, so far, and it requires filling out a form that has to be notarized. In the present situation, it would be hard to show the cc company that I had the wrong plant.
I am mostly trying to learn how others vendors handle mislabeled plants. I am surprised that this has been such a problem for some.

Don't bother trying to understand the name. Trust me, you won't get it. "To the happy few."

I thought the purpose of a forum was to discuss issues. When someone posts a reply or asks a question, I just assumed it was proper to respond. Thanks for the sage advice, Dale.

No, I don't... but certainly you will not be one of those "happy few" in life if you don't let things go.

I like this thread. Gives me another person to add to my "don't sell plants to this guy" list.

You know... I bet if you put half as much effort into resolving this issue directly with Andy's as you have put into critcizing the business, you'd have a solution by now.

    I think I know.
There's only one transaction that could create such bedlam. He *must* have ordered an Ang, and instead received an icky bulbo. I don't blame him a bit.

Oh the internet...the rage, the righteous indignation, the anonymity with which strangers can berate others. I love witnessing a spectacle, standing on the sidelines with a bemused smile. That being said, go on, continue; I'll just have to go grab some popcorn.

CONCLUSION: Thanks to those who sincerely participated in helping me learn more about how things work. I did receive a message from Andy and he apologized for the poor communication and agreed to send the plant. Faith restored. Thanks again.

how much was the plant? Do you have to send back the wrong one? I wonder if the vendor got a wrong plant from whom he bought it from...

By the way, couldn't the "wrong" plant be M. rechingeriana (instead of the quite similar calura)? I've myself, a long time ago, purchased a rechingeriana, thinking I was acquiring a reichenbachiana. Entirely my fault, I was a beginner at that time, and the plants weren't mislabelled, I simply couldn't remember the difference between such 2 "closely looking" names, attributed to 2 very different species!
