Here are two clones of Ascocentrum miniatum (not garayi). The first I bought last year and is a paler color. The other is a recent purchase. I am showing the plant for a sense of plant proportion. It is growing in a 5" basket. I take no credit for the blooming since I've only had it a few months. The size of the plant is not a testament to my growing skills, but more to my shopping skills.;)

Love this (and garayi) species. Looks like they can be in spike several times per year with rather long lasting bloom.

Marni, great plant you have there! and thanks for posting good pictures on a true miniatum.
Do you have A. garayi as well? Would be interesting to se the plants side by side to compare. I ask becouse in Europe we are overflown by A. garayi from Thailand marked as A. miniatum and most of the Europeen commersial growers do not seem to care about the naming misstake and sell them as miniatum...

Magnus, I don't have A garayi. We too are surrounded with mislabeled plants of garayi. Jacob, another OI member, has both and probably has images. Maybe when he has some time he can post images of both.

    That specimen is impressive!

I'll be posting some comparison photos of garayi vs. miniatum soon.
