Ascocentrum ampullaceum

    I sowed those little guys around 5 years ago. this is their first blooming, with 2 spikes per plant. the original cross was made by Chaz Smith, the parents are orange and purplish violet. And naturally, the progeny is exactly half way between both parental colors:D

    that species is supposed to be grown Intermediate/warm, but it grew very well (especially when mounted on cork) in the same conditions as cuthbertsonii, bright and cold (and drier in winter)

    I migh still have a few flasks left of that exact cross. if I can spot them I'll send some, they should be ready to deflask.
