Anyone have experience with Habenaria tubers?

    I unpotted several H. rhodocheilas and found big fat firm tubers in the media. However on half of them, the growing tip had rotted. The rest of the bulb is firm and healthy. Will the tuber sprout elsewhere on the bulb? or are they a goner and will eventually rot?

    I've been doing pretty well with a number of the habenarias this last couple of years, but I haven't experienced what you describe. I would dust with a fungicide, keep them dry and hope. My sense is that they don't sprout from alternative places, but I would be interested in hearing what happens. On the up side, these are proving easy to grow in flask. Haven't reached the deflasking stage yet.

    How long ago had the leaves died back if they have?

    most died back in December. I wonder if the rot traveled down from the dying stem? Maybe I didn't dry them out enough.
    I've potted them up so we'll see if any sprout.

    I would like to see what yours look like learn. I just bought some egert orchids and they are the same thing I think .
