This is a cow with a yearling calf and two young bulls. There is a second pair, a cow with this year's calf, feeding on the other side of the house.

Oh Pook, thank you so much for posting your moose here!
I love them, you know. From a distance, of course!

No Forrest, I just feed them for 8- 10 weeks at this time of year to get them to stay longer. By the 2nd week of January they will have migrated down the canyon to lower altitude and less snow.

Horse food and chopped up apples. They have to be introduced to the apples initially. If you just quarter them, the moose will push them aside and eat the horse food. So you have to chop them up, about 24 pieces per apple so they can't avoid eating one. Once they do, they are hooked.

I did get the Purina moose chow once. It was too much trouble and too expensive to get shipped.

Purina is headquartered in Missouri, hence one of their brand names is Mazuri.

Pook, do you still see the other big guy that, if I remember correctly, started the whole moose watch? I cannot for the life of me remember his name right now.

Primo? As I stated on the web site,:poke:, this was the first summer that I haven't see him pass through my yard. I did however see a big bull I thought was him 2x while I was out hiking in July. Haven't seen him since. I've got my fingers crossed.

probably a bit of the ol testosterone induced wanderlust, off looking for NEW pastures to plow if'n ya know what i mean :)

i envision females being more territory stable while males keep a bag packed just in case
